And then Pitch went on to scare the shit out of everyone because that’s the point of him and he loves doing it and he didn’t need any of this power-play bullshit or needed people to ‘believe’ in him because he is fear and he exists always in everyone

I sort of disagree, Blu. Granted, I have not read the books but having read Rufftoon’s comics about Pitch’s past, I feel that part of the reason Pitch wants people to believe in him again is because he had held such power and respect back in the day… but most of all, he could interact with people that were not some sort of mystical entity (that didn’t see him as a villain or tried to hurt him on sight).
He is literally a shadow of his former self, and while this former self was not the kindest nor without flaw, he was important —and after all, he was a guardian. When the Moon introduced the other guardians, who brought happiness and comfort to combat the fear, Pitch felt threatened; likely, he felt like he was no longer as important —that fear was no longer important. Likely, he felt like he was being replaced and doomed to recede away into nothing and THAT, he could not allow.
Imagine if the Moon is a parental figure and the guardians are the sons & daughters: Pitch was one of the first, but as the others came along it felt like he was being replaced. Sort of like, “Oh yeah, well done but your younger siblings are doing something else and I think that’s much better.”
His rebellion was fuelled in part by pride but also in part by fear —yes, fear; fear that he was no longer important, fear that he would fade away to a life of solitude and loneliness.
Long story short, I would have loved to see this ending because it would not have reduced Pitch to a villain who should be punished/banished because he is evil because NO. He was not evil, he was lonely. This ending would have been a sign that he was still the guardians’ equal, that he WAS STILL NEEDED, DESPITE NOT BRINGING HAPPINESS TO KIDS BECAUSE HOW CAN WE KNOW LIGHT WITHOUT DARK?
Also, yes: the nightmares turning on him is totally bullshit.

Platinum was the first time I tried playing the game with how the characters would act heavily in mind. It’s silly but ever since then i’ve enjoyed the games a lot more ^q^
